Finance and Operations Specialist

The Role: 

Girls of Armenia Leadership Soccer (GOALS)  seeks qualified finance and operations professionals to lead daily financial and operational management processes of the organization under the direct supervision of the CEO. The coordinator will need to ensure effective systems and processes for fiscal planning, ongoing budget management, and internal financial control processes such as reporting and compliance along with overall smooth operations.

For this role specifically, we are looking for a candidate who possesses the following  key competencies: 

Financial Management: This individual should have a strong background in all aspects of financial governance, including planning, reporting, and accounting.  

Risk Management & Compliance: In order to safeguard the organization’s financial security while ensuring adherence to financial regulations, we need a leader who can work across teams to ensure risk management and compliance is in place.

Advisory and Consultancy: The nature of this job will require close collaboration with other departments in order to ensure teams are equipped to manage their finances correctly. 

Data and Technology: The Finance and Operations Coordinator should have a data-driven mindset with a strong command for technological platforms in order to maximize resources and to identify strategic opportunities for financial efficiencies. 

Overall operations: Smooth operations both for the organization and the programs that we lead are key to our success. This individual will be responsible for ensuring overall efficient operations. 

Aside from these core competencies, we are also looking for the following 

qualifications: 

● Bachelor's degree in Economics or Finance required Master’s degree preferred 

● Minimum 2 years of professional experience in finance and accounting management 

● Special consideration will be given to individuals with a financial background in nonprofit  management (e.g. reporting for grants) 

● Deep knowledge on ՀԾ platform 

● Fluency in Armenian, working English knowledge is preferred 

The Work: 

For this role, the key responsibilities will include: 

  •  Financial management (50%) 

    • Budgets and forecasts: daily monitoring and coordinating GOALS annual budgeting and mid-year forecast process;  administer and review all financial plans on a monthly basis and compare to  actual results to identify, explain, and correct variances as appropriate. 

    • Supervise short-, mid-, and long-term financial plans and projections, prepare and submit relevant monthly financial reports to CEO. 

    • Execute ongoing budget-controlling tasks. 

    • Prepare financial reports for GOALS donors, contributors, and other required external stakeholders, based on the specific requirements. 

    • Prepare and submit CEO quarterly financial reports on GOALS overall activities  including variance statistics 

    • Partner with the CEO to address all operational and strategic issues as they arise and provide recommendations based on financial analysis and projections, cost identification and allocation, and revenue/expense analysis. 

    • Maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, and program budgets, and actual expenditures. Help ensure the maintenance of fiscal policies and procedures. 

    • Prepare monthly reports on incoming funds in order to identify the nature of those (Foundations, Individuals,  Government, Multilaterals, Corporations, etc) 

    • Consistently analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; monitor progress and changes. 

    • Coordinate all financial, project/program, and grants accounting/financial  reporting process; ensure that expenditures are consistently aligned with  grant and program budgets throughout the grant/fund period; collate financial reporting materials for international and domestic governmental agencies,  corporate, and foundation grants (in case of necessity) 

    • Coordinate yearly audit-related activities. 

    • Monitor weekly expense approval processes 

    • Ensure legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial functions.  Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate RA standards and regulatory requirements. 

  • Operations management (40%) 

    • Manage audit, legal, accountancy, and any consulting services. 

    • Manage the organization’s technology and data management systems

    • Oversee the organization’s existing technology and plan new technology  purchase  

    • Ensure day-to-day operations run smoothly 

    • Conduct annual inventory process 

    • Safeguarding and maintenance of business assets and equipment, which include  company cars, IT equipment, mobile phones, office stationery, etc across all the  domains (including regions) 

    • Manage the process of preparing required accompanying documents across all  the functions (donation and service contracts, agreements, MoUs)

    • Conduct purchasing and procurement of necessary items to ensure smooth operations of the office and all program elements

    • Be the liaison for all outsourced services including transportation, uniforms, sports gear, office supplies, etc. 

  • Other responsibilities(10%) 

    • Assist in all HR related operational activities when required 

    • Prepare weekly/monthly documentation for outsourced services
