Goris League

The Fall 2018 Goris League opened on September 9th at Aksel Bakunts School in Goris. This year 12 teams will compete against one other, and at the end of the season we will have one winner from the Syunik League. There will be 11 tours for the Fall season, in Goris, and 6 competitive games in a week between the teams. GOALS distributed new uniforms to the teams and Brandi Chastain, an Olympic and World Cup Champion, generously donated equipment to our Goris League for which GOALS and all the players of Goris League are thankful and excited.

Artik League

The Fall 2018 season of the GOALS Artik Girls Soccer League was opened on September 28th at Artik State College. This year, two new teams from Azatan and Artik joined the league. We provided them with uniforms, equipment for their trainings sessions, and the necessary transportation needed to reach to the center of the league for the matches. The opening ceremony was amazing; they had dancing and music, and before the official kickoff of the first match, the Armenian national anthem was played and the leaders of each team gathered together to raise the flag of Armenia. For the Fall season there will be 8 teams participating in the league. At the conclusion of the season the team with the best record will be picked to represent the region in the GOALS regional tournament.

Dilijan League

At the UWC Dilijan College, the Fall 2018 Girls League was opened on September 30th. UWC supports and helps community projects, and we are happy to continue our partnership and have UWC host the games of the GOALS Dilijan league at the college every week. Four teams will compete with one another for 6 weeks and then the winner of our Tavush League will represent the region in the regional tournament to conclude the fall season.

Alaverdi League

On September 23rd GOALS opened the Fall 2018  Alaverdi Girls Soccer League at the cities sports school, where all the teams gathered for the opening ceremony and the first round of matches. 9 Weeks of games will make up the duration of the league season, in which 5 matches are planned for each week. A new team from Debed joined the league this year, where we conducted a summer camp in June, 2018. All the participants are excited to compete with one another and strive for better results.

Yeghegnadzor League

On September 9th the Vayots Dzor League, centered in Yeghegnadzor, opened. All the teams gathered at the Yeghegnadzor Sports School and the games started with Arpi playing against Areni. This year a journalist from France, Constance Leon, who works at Radio France Internationale (RFI) came with us to help open and prepare a podcast for the radio channel. She interviewed players, coaches, and people observing the match. The teams of Yeghegnadzor League will compete for 6 weeks for the Fall 2018 Season.

Artik League

Gavar League

The Gegharkunik League, centered in Gavar, is a new league for the GOALS Fall 2018 season. During the summer GOALS had a co-ed summer camp in Gavar. The girls who participated in the camp were excited to know about our new league opening in the region. GOALS was also active in the region during the spring and summer seasons in which we conducted football trainings for the participants of the World Vision and Good Credit Armenia’s “3action Program.” The league was opened on September 30th with six teams. Two of the teams received uniforms which were donated by Steve Nersesyan, a US National certified soccer coach, when he was conducting a cross-cultural training for our 3action program participants in Vardenik and Gavar.

Armavir League

The other new league opening took place in the Armavir Region on September 29th. The Fall 2018 Armavir League has started with four teams: two teams from Armavir, one from Silikyanner, and one from Shenik. Armavir is our first league to have a women’s Regional Coordinator, Ozheni Avetisyan. This league was sponsored by the Ayo! crowdfunding platform. Thanks to them we were able to distribute uniforms, equipment, and cover the cost of transportationfor all the teams, for the duration of the entire league season.
